The object theme of
bud brand 2016

Freedom of ideas
and message to the world

Everyday objects such as chopsticks, fans, origami, Japanese style sandals, baskets and Japanese style cups are taken for granted in Japan, but are looked on as something special in the rest of the world. As we head into the future of our global society, imagine if these objects could achieve some sort of original change going beyond the boundaries of culture. We should be able to see ways in which they could change since we use these objects in our daily lives. This should be seen as an opportunity and we propose a conceptual activity for the future. “Born in JAPAN” products need to be rethought, given a new awareness and breathe of life, and be redesigned.

Fantastical light
of our childhood

Illuminator

This illumination is a source of light in itself, but when it changes shape illuminating a floor or wall, its beauty increases.
The fantastical light leaking from mosquito nets that we remember fondly as children is expressed with deep silk cotton.

Floor light

We work by cutting out parts from one piece of timber with a 5 "sun" angle, one of the standard dimensions of Japanese wooden structures.
This lighting equipment helps us to enjoy indirect light without involving shade.

KUMIKO sheet

Place mat / wallpaper

Eat, touch, smell and enjoy. Japanese traditional "kumiko" technology (assembling wood without using nails) is used, and the wood is cut carefully one by one into blocks in the "kumiko" form by the hands of craftsmen, then it is finely scraped keeping the charm of the bark. It is only 0.5mm, like a sheet of Japanese paper. The texture, color and smell all help to show the food to its advantage.
This piece shows the Japanese "omotenashi" spirit helping this enjoyable meal time to remain in your memory.
